简介
A collective of worldmusic-artists from all across the globe joined the initiative of Dutch singer Leoni Jansen and producer Onno Krijn to compose an album "About Water". 17 songs from 17 different countries urge for action to give safe drinking water and hygienic sanitation facilities to more than a quarter of the world's population that still lacks any form of adequate provisions. One of the songs is the remix of "Water is life", recently awarded first prize by the USA songwriting contest 2008 for songs for children. "About Water" is the title of the CD, it is also the title of the project that will benefit from the CD revenues. The "About Water" program covers a qualified selection of effective and efficient projects on water & sanitation, selected by Aqua for All (a Dutch matchmaker foundation that links financial and knowledge support to water & sanitation projects all over the world). The revenues will be transferred to "About Water" projects. All selected projects are assessed on their effective contribution to Millennium Development Goal 7, its sustainability and its impact on poverty reduction, health, and gender issues. From the cd-booklet:.."Water is the source of all life, just as water has been the source of inspiration for all of the artists on this album. We asked 17 international artists from all across the globe to write a song about water, and here's what they came up with: Sometimes they want to share their concern about the lack of water, or the effort it takes to get clean water, sometimes the concept of water is used as a metaphor for all that is transparent, flowing and pure in life. But in every song the importance of water, and the love for water, is absolutely clear. The various aspects of water revealed here are seen through the eyes of different cultures. With the music on this album we hope to emphasize the need for clean drinking water and sanitation, and with the proceeds we hope to support a few water-projects in developing countries...."
