简介

In 2006 Koski spent the night in Yuma County Jail. He repented by repeating songs from Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and The Spider From Mars - an album he heard for the first time a week before crossing the state line. When day broke, Koski made bail, but instead of riding off into the sunset, he aimed for the sky, poised to produce a solo album. Yuma Jail Rock is a collection of songs written before and after that night in jail. The musician’s affinity for Bowie, Prince, Paul Simon, Ginger Rogers, and Fred Astaire can be heard throughout the album. Koski recorded his debut album on a Tascam 388 and mixed it with Mike Coykendall (M Ward, Blitzen Trapper, She & Him) at Type Foundry Studios in Portland, OR. Yuma Jail Rock is Koski on a Lil' Trees Pequeño Hermano electric tenor guitar, ukulele, charango, Fender Rhodes, bass, piano, drums, pipes, and synthesizers. Horns were arranged by Koski and Don Miguel and performed by Max Ginsburg on Tuba, Bobbie Sue McCollum on clarinet and trumpet, John Murphy on alto sax, and Don Miguel on tenor sax. Ephraim Bano of Hong Kong fame performs lead guitar on "Halo Heart.” Koski has produced, recorded, and performed with Splintered In Her Head, Cosmic Slop, and Towers. He assisted in recording Sallie Ford and Alejandro Escovedo under the guidance of Adam Selzer(M. Ward, Fleet Foxes, Giant Sand), and is currently producing The Wilder's new album.
