Ray Covington has his sights set on becoming the newest phenomenon from the hit-producing Twin Cities of Minnesota. Showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter, his debut solo CD was titled simply, “Ray Covington.” It was released in the summer of 2001 and created a buzz that would quickly spread throughout the Twin Cities music scene. The album was almost entirely written and arranged by Ray, with Al Demmings of Semaj Records producing the album. It contained the local radio hit “I’m Ready.” The momentum continued into the new year. In February 2002, Ray landed an opportunity to headline his first big show at Minneapolis’ The Cotton Club. The all-star band included former New Power Generation drummer Kirk Johnson, Monte Moir and Chance Howard of The Time, and Todd Burrell of Alexander O’Neal fame. Also, Ray has opened for platinum artist Jaheim, KC and Jo Jo, Keith Washington, Tony Terry, The SOS Band, Alexander Oneal, Glenn Jones and Confunkshun. 2004, Ray release "Life Stories". The single "Anything" is a favorite among local DJ's in the Twin Cities and gave Ray an even more widespread audience as it became a local crossover hit. Ray has his sights on becoming the next Big star out of the mid west and with his talent, style and image, Ray will be entertaining adoring fans now and for years to come.
