简介
For me, it’s always been about writing a song that would make a person stop what they were doing and listen. I’m what they call a singer/songwriter. I’m not a rock-star, pop-star or idol. I don’t know if I’m very cool. But people, guitars, the journey of life and beautiful things inspire me to write songs. So that’s what I do. Financial constraints kept me out of studios for many years. So I did a lot of recording at home on a PC. Friends and friends of friends and complete strangers who’d seen me play kept asking me for a CD so I started selling my ‘demos’ with no artwork other than my hand written scrawl, “Tim Pepper – Demo” on the front. Later I started getting a little more sophisticated and put out some limited releases which I’d sell at gigs. My latest EP, “Believe”, is a combination of songs I recorded both at home and in a studio. Performance was always a scary thing for me. The earliest of my experiences on stage were in the church choir. When I started taking music more seriously I began with open mic nights at local bars. Through the network of musicians at the open mics I heard about more gigs and got invited to play as an opening act for some other local bands. Being a solo artist I still open for other bands but also do my own gigs. In 2006 I started the festival circuit and was lucky enough to play Woodstock ‘07 and after well received performances at some smaller festivals was invited to play Splashy Fen ’08 on the mainstage. Where the road eventually leads I can’t say but I do believe that I’ll arrive there with a little notebook and a pen and a guitar and a couple of tunes rolling around in my head.
