Courtney Nero, born and raised in Washington DC, grew up around music from an early age. This CD is a culmination of his musical journey so far, incorporating both his embrace of salvation in Jesus Christ and his love of jazz, which dates back to the first time he saw the movie "Round Midnight" starring jazz tenor Dexter Gordon. This CD also represents the debut of Courtney's talent as a composer. "Hearken Unto God" (two versions on CD) and "Make Me Walk" convey powerful messages to those walking with Christ or seeking a relationship with Him, and "With My Soul" is a free-form improvisational composition derived from his meditative arrangement of "It Is Well." "Make Me Walk," Courtney Nero's debut release, has been honored in October 2008 with a nomination for Stellar Award in the Instrumental Gospel CD of the Year category.
