Joe Traina has been leader of the Joe Traina Quartet and Quintet since 1990 performing extensively throughout the New York Tri-State area in such notable establishments as The Supper Club, The National Arts Club, Tavern On The Green, Sardi's, Metronome, Times Square Grill, Il Cortile, Tatou and The Rainbow Room. Mr. Traina and his group were the weekly attraction at world-famous Sardi's restaurant in New York's theatre district on Friday evenings for over two years in the Club Room. During that time, countless vocalists from Broadway shows, cabaret and the world of jazz appeared with the Quintet including Lillias White, Michele Pawk, Karen Ziemba, Arthur Rubin, Tim Di Pasqua and Jo Sullivan Loesser. An accomplished clarinetist and saxophonist, Mr. Traina studied with Caesar Di Mauro and William Blount, former principal clarinetist of the Orchestra Of St. Luke's. Traina has also studied saxophone with jazz artists Michael Migliore, Charles Pillow and David Pietro. Traina credits his earliest appreciation and knowledge of jazz to his longstanding relationship with late trumpet legend Don Joseph. Joseph was a constant influence on Traina's development of a singing and melodic voice on both instruments. Mr. Traina has also presented numerous jazz concerts in New York over the past thirteen years featuring original contemporary compositions in his MOSTLY JAZZ series at the Greenwich House, the Hayden Planetarium and the Irish Arts Center. Traina's third CD of jazz standards entitled "Tea For Two" was released in December 2006 and features instrumentals of great American jazz standards including "Blue Skies", "Too Marvelous For Words" and "Stardust" as well as four vocals from former Cab Calloway Orchestra & Rainbow Room song-stylist Jennifer Johns.
