Lived in Japan and recorded own LP "Encounter". 1972-75 member of Gunter Hampels Galaxie Dream Band. 1973 to Europe, working with Clark Terry, Chet Baker, Mark Murphy, Jay Clayton, Warne Marsh, Sal Nistico a.o. Teacher at the Conservatory in Linz, Austria. LARRY PORTER, piano Born 1951 in Cleveland. Studied piano at Eastman School of Music and Berklee College of Music. 1971 founded "Children At Play" with Tom van der Geld. Moved to Germany 1973, played with Sal Nistico, Kai Winding, Mel Lewis a.o. Back in New York, Larry worked as pianist in jazz scene, as rebab and sarod player in Indian music scene and accompanied dancers such as Merce Cunningham. Returned to Germany in1981, played with Airto Moreira, Thad Jones, Al Cohn, Chet Baker, Don Menza a.o. 1988-92 member of the Art Farmer Quintet. Accompanied singers Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy, Jay Clayton and Jeanne Carroll. 1991-92 worked with the Archie Shepp Quartet. 1991 CD with Monty Waters Quartet in Paris. THOMAS STABENOW, bass Born in Kirchberg 1952. Studied double-bass with professor Ulrich Lau in Stuttgart from 1975-80. Concerts with Johnny Griffin, Charlie Rouse, Clifford Jordan, Lee Konitz, Sal Nistico, Mel Lewis, Mark Murphy, Kenny Wheeler, Grady Tate, Billy Cobham, Tom Harrell a.o. As a regular member of Peter Herbolzheimer´s "Rhythm Combination and Brass" concerts with Stan Getz, Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Charlie Mariano a.o. Winner of the "Jazz Prize Of Baden-Württemberg" in 1986. Own label "Bassic Sound". Editor of the "1st German Realbook". Professor for double-bass at the Musikhochschule Mannheim. CLARENCE BECTON, drums Born 1933 in Mississippi, moved to New York at age 12. Played with musicians such as Coleman Hawkins, Clark Terry and Jon Hendricks, with whom he toured U.S. and Canada. 1969 moved to Munich, played with Lucky Thompson, Mal Waldron a.o. Back to U.S. to work with Thelonius Monk. 1979 toured U.S., Canada and Europe with Earl "Fatha" Hines. In Amsterdam since 1981, played with Deborah Brown, Wilbur Little, Benny Bailey, Horace Parlan, Buddy Tate, Burton Greene and a.o. Currently teaching at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague.
