Andrei Krylov recorded this album on Renaissance Lute and Classical Guitar in St.Petersburg, Russia in 1990-1997. He performed those pieces in many recitals in different countries of the world. The music of the album includes Lute music by: Robert Johnson - English composer and lutenist. One of the most talented English composers for the lute, especially when writing in a highly ornamented style. Juan Maria de La Crema - lutenist and composer from Spain George Leopold Furmann - lutenist and composer from Germany Giovanni Francesco Anerio - Italian composer, brother of Felice Anerio. He was a choirboy under Palestrina at St Peter's, Rome, and from 1600 held many choirmaster posts in that city at St John Lateran, S. Spirito in Sassia, the Collegio Romano, and S. Maria dei Monti. He also worked for a time at Verona cathedral and his last years were spent directing music at the Polish court; he died on his way back from there to Rome. He published a volume of Masses, several volumes of motets and a collection of psalms, antiphons and litanies; his Teatro armonico (1619) was an important contribution to the development of oratorio, being a collection of laude in dialogue for soloists, choir and instruments. Joachim Van Den Hove - a Flemish/Dutch composer and a lutenist. He composed works for lute solo and for lute and voice. Mario Fabritio Caroso - Italian lutenist and poet. Melchior Neusidler - lutenist and composer from Germany. Andrei Krylov studied guitar in Music School and University in St.Petersburg, Russia. In 1980's-90's he worked as a classical guitar teacher and performer for the State Concert Company #Lenconcert#. He wrote music for the guitar and other instruments and he has recorded and published several albums of original guitar music, songs, new age, classical and flamenco guitar music, lute music, one of which has sold over 60,000 copies in Russia. He has played with the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra (conductor, Eduard Gustin) and the "Old Petersburg " music theatre. He has given recitals in Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, USA, and Canada. Andrei has recorded and performed for Russian Broadcast Radio and TV and a copy of his performance was published by TV St.Petersburg. In Canada, he has performed at various festivals, including Latin Extravaganza, Kitchener's Salsa In The Square, Toronto's Weston Festival, Hamilton's Concession Street and several multicultural festivals, played concerts in Niagara, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec city and other places. Some of his performances in Canada were televised; by ONTv, by Roger's Cable and the others by COGECO and CHIN TV. Also his music played on CKTB, CHIN 97,9, Radio Katyusha, Baltika FM, Theos, Peterburg TV5 and other channels. Andrei has been compared favourably to many great guitar players, but has a style uniquely of his own.
