简介
track notes This is a 100 % artist friendly release where your purchase directly supports the artist and the track was captured in hi-resolution from the original master tapes Recorded in 1977 with only 500 pressed, the vinyl LP Pieces remains the most sought after wax of mlc’s releases with “Heaven” and “In My Life” as the standout tracks. The LP was never commercially released. Fortunate enough to team up with Bay Area veteran club and session musicians Jimmy Hobson on drums and Gary Arluck on bass, their superb playing skills are on display on every track. All nine rhythm tracks for Pieces were done in one day and are the first or second takes, and engineer Harn Soper managed to capture the best quality of every instrument. In 1978 “Matt The Cat” EP debuted, and the heavy whah-whah groove of “All I’m Missing is You” soon became the standout cut. The Cat is a bit more electric than Pieces yet features the same rhythm section, with added guitarist Howie Schoenberger. The band hits the right groove on the outro and turns it into a bonafide beat-grinder. There are a number of reissues of mlc’s catalog on vinyl and CD and articles online documenting the interest and re-discovery of his recordings, especially entertaining reads are The Huffington Post and Marin Independent Journal. peace and enjoy
