简介
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Gina began her music career by playing lead guitar in bands in New York and throughout the East Coast, perfoming her original music in small clubs to thousand-seat shows. In 1986, Rock Scene Magazine called her "probably the best female guitarist in rock today... Gina plays with the speed and dexterity of many really good male guitarists." Since 1991, she has scored music for television and film, where her pieces have won Tele and International Television and Video (ITVA) Awards. Her compositions for television have been broadcast across the US and in 13 countries for Smithsonian Institution, US News and World Report, US Postal Service, WETA, The American Red Cross and many others. In 2000, she scored a feature-length independent film for director Aydem Erdem. At present, Gina spends much of her time composing music for commissions, live performances and recordings. In 2005 the Mason Modern Music Ensemble (M3E) premiered her piece Silence at Harris Theater in Fairfax, Virginia. "Carol Broke a Dish", "Purse-Sized Gong" and "Sahara", were also premiered at Harris Theater by her ensemble in May of 2005. Her composition "Secrets Speak", written for 30 female voices, was premiered at the Sertoma Arts Center in Raleigh, North Carolina in April of 2006. Her composition "Skating Still" was recently chosen to be on the International 60X60 Project and will be performed in New York, Sydney, and throughout Europe. Her most recent recording, Gina Biver, (from where I sit) is now available at cdbaby and www.ginabiver.com. Gina received her Masters Degree in Music Education with a Concentration in Composition from George Mason University. She studied composition privately with composers Steve Antosca and Garrison Hull.
