SoRo and Friends
简介
Back from the depths of sonic exploration, worldly education, and couch surfing, South of Roosevelt has returned to bring you their first new release in over a year, “The SoRo and Friends EP”. This exciting new 5 song EP features collaborations with such familiar artists as Wally Callerio, Mikey V, and My Boy Elroy, as well as newcomers Nicolaas Black, The Sugarcane Family, and Artispure. Starting off the “SoRo & Friend EP” is the South of Roosevelt & Artispure deep house collaboration titled “Make Me Some Money”. The perfect deep track for that next Wall Street inspired party or late night ruckus, “Make Me Money” features the catty spoken word wisdom of ultra sexy Chicago burlesque performer and poet Raven. Edgar Allen Poe, eat your heart out. Second on the “SoRo & Friends EP” is the classic house inspired jam “Count On You”. Written together in the early morning hours with longtime friends My Boy Elroy and Nicolaas Black, “Count On You” is the perfect 5 am cut. Complete with the classic MPC 3000 drum swing, “Count On You” serves it up with lush music textures, bouncing piano leads, and Elroy’s smooth vocal melodies creating a sound that is reminiscent of that 90’s feel good house sound we all knew and loved. Taking up the third spot is the South of Roosevelt collaboration with HAWT heavy hitter Mikey V titled “Dis Feelin”. Reminiscent of those late night drives through the valley of Los Angelos, this simple and groovy deep funk jam is highlighted by Mikey V’s soulful vocal hooks and South of Roosevelt’s dubby synth chords and bassline. This is the jam you set the mood with. The next cut off the “SoRo and Friends EP” is the South of Roosevelt and Sugarcane Family collaboration titled “Somebody To Love”. Hold on to your hats dogs and cats cuz this one is a ‘twirler’. Featuring a boomin Chicago House drum sound, frolicking flute licks, warped vocal sentiments, and feel good funky basslines, “Somebody To Love” is the ultimate underground take on dubby “Nu” Chicago House music. Finishing off “The SoRo and Friends EP” is their warm feel good collaboration with California’s classic house maestro Wally Callerio titled “The Sun”. Building epically with catchy guitar loops and bouncing 80’s basslines, “The Sun” crescendos into glorious disco chop goodness with vocal themes invoking thoughts of higher enlightenment and spiritual energy.
