简介

‘The Earth Tremors Beneath Our Feet’ is a collection of twelve beautiful songs showcasing nine artists from Vancouver and it’s surrounding areas. The focus is on introspective, vocal lead electronica, with notable exceptions being Vancouver Island’s Kemal Evans’ intimate acoustic ‘Undone’, the powerfully emotive ‘How Deep Is The Water’ by Carmen and Camille, and the rootsy ‘Delivered’ by Aaron Nazrul, which also features vocals by Frazey Ford from The Be Good Tanyas. On the electronica side, the album debuts two songs from new band A Promise. Their haunting ‘Ghosts Walk These Rooms’ features a verse from Vancouver rapper Baba Brinkman with their second song ‘All I Know’ sitting somewhere between Nick Cave and music from Twin Peaks. Another MC highlighted on the album is Junk, whose slick ‘Sunlight’ follows Truefold’s ‘Six 15’, a track reminiscent of something from Massive Attack’s ‘Mezzanine’. Yet more sophisticated electronica comes from Bluelight, which features timeless velvety vocals from Andréa Hector. Singer songwriter Dolena’s bittersweet ‘Romeo and Juliet’ features atmospheric guitars from none other than Ryan Guldemond from Mother Mother. Finally, the album showcases Corey Hawkins’ intense ‘Follow Me’. Probably the edgiest song on the album, but with no denying the pure emotion that he delivers. The overall sound has been likened to how the Velvet Underground might sound if they made music today after listening to Nirvana. Go figure, or just check it out. This compilation takes you on a journey through an emotional landscape, sometimes bleak, but always beautiful. A perfect soundtrack as the seemingly endless months of wintery rain and grey skies draw in…
