Yg:drasil is the most ambitious album from Boreal Taiga to date. Recording of this double length album began in 2010 and it is split this into two parts; one part features ambient/space compositions while the other part features more beat oriented down-tempo sounds. Yg:drasil is inspired by northern and southern polar areas and musically merges inspirations from the world’s cultures, astronomy, and mythology, especially Norsk mythologies. Boreal Taiga used many binaural recordings from the field such airports in Iceland and Norway, fjord recordings in Norway (cuckoo birds etc), ice recordings, and astronomers discussing the southern polar celestial star maps. Many of the tracks on part two were written with a more tribal and down-tempo feel and use some native drum samples from various areas in Northern Europe, Alaska and Siberia. This is a direct tribute to these people and their cultures which influenced this part of the album. This “tribal feel” is a return to sounds from previous Boreal Taiga albums such as "is sentrum" and "Podkamennaya Tunguska", which are planned for official worldwide release in the future.
