"88 Keys: Piano Music by Carl Schroeder" is a collection of original piano music composed and performed by Minnesota composer Carl Schroeder. The album's highlights include the stirring "Birmingham," composed in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "Mississippi River," a lyrical musical reflection on North America's longest river, and the title track, "88 Keys," which uses each of the piano's 88 keys exactly once. ABOUT THE COMPOSER Composer Carl Schroeder of Minneapolis, Minnesota, a graduate of St. Olaf College, writes music for concert band, orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles and piano that is often inspired by American history and current events. His large ensemble music has been performed by more than 30 concert bands, orchestras and choirs including the Air Force Band of Mid-America and Ukraine's Chamber Choir Kyiv. He has received commissions from numerous ensembles and individuals, and four CDs of his music have been released.
