简介
Hmm, this band is marked as neo-classical power metal over at M-A, but after getting through some songs on this album, I have my doubts about it. Even the very first song Burn the Sky will give you pretty good picture - for one pretty long moment, I thought this is gonna be a cover of Rainbow's Kill the King, and was prepared to sing along, but the lyrics were different! Nevertheless, Rainbow influence is the key point here, and you will hear that all over the album. So I think that explains the 'neo-classical' part, though you can be sure I'm not gonna vote for it as primary genre here, and advise you to follow my example. As for the power metal part - there are indeed several songs that could belong to the genre, but still, the main primary genre here is Rainbow influenced melodic hard rock. Occasionally, the band mixes it with power metal rhythmics for some faster tempo songs like Burn the Sky, Call to Roll or Evening Star, and I'm very glad to announce this really works. Also, my personal reason to get this album to the playlist ASAP was the frontman Thomas Vikström, whose voice I learned to love in past few months. He is really perfect for this kind of music, and I'm glad the band has asked for his help here. So, how to summarize this? I believe this should especially please fans of Cornerstone and similar bands, as it's very similar in style - high quality melodic hard rock mixed with some power/prog metal and bit of neo-classical metal. Of course, this is exactly my type of music, and even though not all tunes here had hit the bullseye of my taste, the overall feeling I got is very positive indeed. Good stuff.
