Her choice of material has always been insightful; this time it's downright inspired. Perhaps that is because she wrote or co-wrote all of the words and music! With help and accompaniment from John Hoy on guitar, keyboards, assorted everything else, Gary Malkin on a couple tracks, Annie Stocking on backing vocals and others contributing flute, percussion, keyboards and vocal chorus, there is a full yet simple sound, clean as a whistle. With themes both universal and personal, Karen invites the listener to "breath in, breathe out," "lighten up," "take a stand" and more, while sharing that her "religion is kindness" and singing about dreams, healing, the power of women and more. All is guaranteed to inspire positive, warm feelings and an open heart. With this CD of her own personally penned songs, she steps out beyond the realm of inner-child songs and everybody else's favorites into establishing her own creative expression in its own beauty.
