简介
For over a decade, Joyce Saunders has been writing songs that probe the raw places of the human experience with poetic sensibility, grace, and grit. On acoustic guitar, she creates a compelling blend of folk, old country, and rock stylings to accompany her vastly capable voice that unfailingly ushers listeners into the heart of what inspires her. As the youngest of seven, Joyce grew up in Old Barns, a rural community outside of Truro, Nova Scotia. The rolling pastureland, forest, and winding dirt roads of this place kindled her creativity and fondness for nature at a young age. A household rich in music, journallers, thinkers, and tinkerers motivated her eventual entrance into artistry. These roots, underneath current life experiences, inspire songs best described as complex tapestries woven with heartfelt threads of relationship, landscape, and spirit. Currently based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joyce has two albums under her belt; "Days Like These", recorded live in concert at the Agora in October 2002, and "Thick Enough to Stand On" (2005), a full-length, full-band offering recorded with Charles Austin at Ultramagnetic Recording (Joel Plaskett, Matt Mays) in Halifax. The latter chronicles four years of skillful, introspective song writing and features a number of talented friends on bass, drums, cello, violin, electric guitar, and second vocals. Joyce is currently promoting this record throughout North America as an independent artist.
