Kone Hewar, translating into “Abandoned Garden”, strives to introduce to the world the remarkable potential of Kurdish music and culture, both in terms of rhythm and melody, as well as the many unique dialects and linguistic styles found among its people. Since its release a few years ago, this album has fortunately been able to accomplish this goal. The contribution of two vocalists, male and female, performing a blend of solo and duet portions, along with the use of romantic, societal, and at times patriotic concepts in the songs, all in the different contexts of Kalhori, Ardalani, Sowrani, and Ghoochani dialects, are only some of the attractive features of this one of a kind collection. In experiencing this album, the listener is well aware of the relationship between old Kurdish melodies and the implementation of the latest musical techniques, a unique stylistic blend that allows both of these distinctly different elements to flow and integrate with one another smoothly and harmoniously. Kone Hewar was widely released in 2007 through Media Kurd, across the geographical regions of Kurdish Asia and Europe, but ultimately found its place settling in the hearts of listeners everywhere.
