简介
‘Light of Love’ is a collection of romantic songs in styles similar to those of the late 50’s and early 60’s, often referred to as the Doo Wop style. Each conveys a gentle message of love which will take the adult listener to a place where emotions, dreams and desires abound. The stories reflect the open simplicity of love whether it be beginning, ending or at this moment, in its embrace. Lonnie wrote 8 of the songs in the early part of 2006 and already those released as singles have been accepted by radio and listeners right across Australia. The other two songs were written by John Marascalco of Ready Teddy, Good Golly Miss Molly etc, fame and Wayne Jackson of The Memphis Horns, friends of Lonnie's for many years. Both songs are beautiful examples of true love songs. Two songs, ‘Light of Love; and ‘Guiding Light’, have a dual meaning of love. For example you can take them as the love between a man and a woman, or the love of the Divine. The interpretation is yours alone. Whilst he is mainly known for his many Gold Hits of a long gone era, his is also a prolific songwriter. From his first recorded song in 1960, his song writing path has taken him on an incredible journey, the most interesting being as songwriter to and for Roy Orbison during his many years living in America. Not much has really changed in his professional life; in fact the changes have been those around him, not so much his own changes. The era’s and those taking part in them continue to come and go, however he and his style has remained constant. This album is testament to that. Over half a century since this romantic style of popular music was born, Lonnie has polished the edges to make it acceptable to those today who have never experienced it, and has used it as a vehicle to expose his own romantic feelings. He hopes the ‘spark’ will ignite the warmth and light of love in you as well. Most of the album Lonnie produced in Sydney Australia with his band The Leemen, although’ he produced two of them in Nashville.
