Adam Hoffman was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1989. His life has been surrounded by music his whole life. He grew up listening to jazz, blues, and classic rock. He began playing the piano when he could barely walk. Not too long afterwards, he picked up the guitar, and has been playing ever since. He began writing his own songs at the age of 11, and hasn’t really stopped ever since. In addition, he started playing the saxophone, drums, and bass. Adam writes from a completely different perspective than most artists. He writes with a tone of sanguinity and hope which comes through his lively melodies and allegorical lyrics. Adam doesn’t write the typical high-school love songs. Instead, he likes to write with an aim of inspiration. He feels that music shouldn’t be discouraging; it should be uplifting; it should enrich; and it should provide listeners with a new or interesting outlook on some aspect of their lives. C’mon, who wants to sit around all day and listen to depressing and dismal music? Adam Hoffman is the exact opposite. Adam’s newest CD, Coming Around, truly captures his precision. He recorded the entire CD in his home studio in the summer of 2005. He wrote most of the songs in Europe, and almost all the songs were inspired from the trip. He plays all the instruments on all the recordings and doesn’t want to be stuck as a guitar player. He covers the entire spectrum on this album, and while there are a few songs that stick out, this album is truly an all-encompassing experience. It keeps you glued from start to finish like a good book or movie. Adam truly has a style of his own. He combines pop/rock melodies with a jam-band feel. Almost all of the songs make you want to stand up, sing at the top of your lungs, and clap along. Adam could be described as somewhat of a Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Hendrix and Mraz mix. Adam performs acoustically solo in various coffee shops and venues around town. While he is all by himself, his performances are still stunning. He goes out and has the time of his life every time. One can’t help but notice the smile on his face and the uncontrollable tap of nearly all the audience members’ feet. To Adam music is about feel, soul, and inspiration. He truly understands feel and rhythm, and in that sense, his music could be described as soul-music.
