简介

Fireweed offers a rugged blend of Americana and post-grunge rock and roll, drawing from older, traditional influences like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash as well as contemporaries such as Uncle Tupelo, Kurt Cobain, Grant Lee Buffalo, Jerry Cantrell and Mark Lanagan. Kelley Vice's artfully applied guitar textures and powerful vocal harmonies compliment John Enga's unique voice and rough charisma as master storyteller and front-man to weave a tapestry of inviting melodies, crushing honesty and a lasting, hooky, indie pop sensibility. Drummer Jon Hedges and bassist Rick Herrin round out the group with a driving, dynamic rhythm section. Fireweed's music is written in the voice of every independent, down-to-earth and strong-willed man who has ever turned his eyes to the mountain and thought to climb. Below are some lyrical excerpts from the CD. From "Mountain Air": Drawn on I am by some unknown compass Within me, by me, for me Living, breathing, searching, until I find me Long days in the open air Searching to find From "36 Hours": Mountains are the land of the spirit This road travels a valley of ghosts Abandoned homesteads buried in snow Guarded by fence posts, magpies, and crows Eighteen hours since I last ate Probably eighteen more till I do Sitting on this Greyhound bus Passing time as the road rolls by On my way back to my dog and my home And the life I’m afraid to claim Knowing full well when illusion falls, I’ll be hungry And wandering again From "Brown Shoe": I ain’t some burnout full of drugs I’ve worn those clothes I ain’t some coldhearted conservative I’ve seen that show I ain’t some slacker kid full of steel But that heart I know It’s been a long crooked road to where I stand now It’s been a long crooked road to where I stand
