From a moonless, inky midnight right through to that searing, white brightness they tell you to stay away from. Tony has morphed into some kind of “supermuso” here, finding time to admin the MT stuff AND to be a creative, talented musician! Apparently, there must be about 36 hours in a Dublin day – or he’s mastered time travel……………… Tony plays all the intruments and provides all vocals on the album, (with able assistance on tracks 6 & 8 from the talented Jed McConkey and Rhiannah Warm). All tracks on disc 1 (10 in all), are written by Tony himself, with the notable exception of “Be Alright” by the great songman, Peter Fitzpatrick, which Tony covers very admirably, putting the Kenna-twist on it…nice one ! So, I mentioned the spectrum of colours which makes up the album. Track #1, ” Light and Shade”, sums this up perfectly. “We’re light and shade, we aint too bad, ” …….it’s brooding, yes, but it is oh so true…an honest man’s honest musings on what makes “right and wrong” ….I for one, tend to agree with Tony’s findings. The title track, “All the Colours” is up next, good old, proper prog rock! This is a thinking man’s song…although i would never dream of excluding the fairer sex from someting this good….. It touches, nay grasps, love and sadness and all points in between, with an angst a lot of “Emo’s” would give their long fringe to write. “……of all the colours I can choose from – I’ll pick the one that shows me you…….” now that’s my sort of lyric !!! Quite honestly, the muisicianship on the album is second to none – with the mix as tight as any I have heard in a long time. It sounds like an awful lot of hours/days/weeks spent splitting atoms, and for that alone, I am glad, because it was all well worth the time and effort ! I am skipping over quite a few tracks in this piece, the fantastic “Mama Said” written for Belfast bluestress, Mama Kaz , “Heart In A Box”, the rocker from the album, to name a couple, but I skip not because I do not like the tracks - oh, no, – it is merely because I urge you to buy this album and form your own opinions. I promise you will not be disappointed !! I cannot end though without a word or two on the brilliant track #8 – “Hey Hey Hey”. Rock n Progroll !!! (that should be a genre ) …..it’s clearly been written by a white-haired teenager – all angst, worry and hormones…hehe. Rhiannah takes vocals here and her voice suits this piece perffectly, as Tony himself says, “It was obviously meant for Rhiannah to sing”. “I heard your voice on the radio, and I thought you were singing to me” , yep, I remember that feeling, been there and worn out the tee shirt ! So, to summarise. Thanks to all who had a hand in the making of this album, I put it in the van stereo 2 weeks ago and it refuses to eject! It’s all flavours of good, and all colours of splendid! It will make you laugh, weep, smile and tap your feet, and lets face it – we could all do with a whole mess of that kinda stuff ! And …. I haven’t even talked about disc 2 ! All The Colours ? a delight of an artwork !' Murray McDowell.
