简介

The School of Music and Lyrics is proud to present Jasmine Johnson, a new young multi-talented artist, just at the start of a promising career. Jasmine Johnson is an American Singer/Songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. She started to write poetry and short stories as a young girl. Naturally introverted, writing was a means of self-expression for her. It wasn't until she was about 12 years old that she realized her desire to sing and at age 15, she began to add melodies to her journal entries. This was around the same time she dusted off her sister's old Yamaha keyboard and began putting accompaniment to her lyrics. In her singing and songwriting Jasmine was influenced by pop artists like Cher, Avril Lavigne, Shakira, the band No Doubt, and Taylor Swift. Artists with characteristic voices, who all write their own songs. As a young girl she also admired the famous singer and actress Barbera Streisand. Jasmine: "Something I remember being so inspiring about Barbera was that she made a stand about keeping her quirky nose because it made her unique as a person and as a singer/actress. That was something I could admire as a young girl because I grew up with a quirky characteristic on my face as well, my gapped front teeth." Next to well-known artists, also unknown indie singer/songwriters were of great inspiration to Jasmine. For example, when she went to an arts charter school in Phoenix, she met Courtney Marie Andrews, a local singer/songwriter. Jasmine: "Her sweet but broken voice, acoustic style and lyrical authenticity have inspired me so much over the years. She's someone I know who is doing what she loves for a living." Now in her early twenties, Jasmine has a wide range of songs, mainly Pop, with touches of Folk, A Cappella sounds, Jazz-Blues, Soul, and a bit of Indie. Her adaptability with vocal sound has benefited her greatly as a performer for various projects she's been a part of and she always takes on new challenges lyrically and style-wise. She joined forces with the School of Music and Lyrics in 2015, which resulted in several music productions, combining her unique sound and style with jazzy pop songs and videoclips directed by Jasmine herself. You will hear more from this multi-talented artist in the coming years! LYRICS: It doesn't matter what you do He was gonna give up on you Either way It was just a game that he played To watch you follow into The darkest of alleyways Leading you by a shrill of faith And you took it as bait Chorus Good girls finish last When they get boys who finish girls fast At least I thought you were good I thought you were better than that I know how the moral sings I'm a tight knob in your saddle string I gave it all I could When I shouldn't have given you anything It doesn't matter who he is Why'd he leave you feeling hopeless Even so You had trouble letting him go To watch him gather his boots His footprints are tread on you Leaving you like you had no name When you still felt the same Chorus 2x Bridge Maybe I'm a snake I tried to coil myself around you And you were a kind of snake too Evil in your garden with your truth And maybe we're a poison Fighting from heaven we cannot stay And maybe we're a legion Hundreds of physical enemies Good Girls Bad boys Thought you were good Better than that Your string I gave it all I could When I shouldn't I gave it all I could Chorus Good girls finish last When they get boys who finish girls fast At least I thought you were good I thought you were better than that I know how the moral sings I'm a tight knob, your string I gave it all I could when I shouldn't have given you anything Anything
