简介
This album was written in the mountains. The Pocono mountains, that is. Up in the Northeast bit of Pennsylvania. My name is Mathew James, and I'm the one that wrote it, recorded it, produced it, spit-shined it, etc. So I guess that means I'm the one who must tell you all about it. I notice that when it comes to music, people don't really care what it means - they just want something to listen to. Well, I'm one of those people who wanna know what exactly is going into my ears. What it means, what it meant to the person who wrote it. So I'll tell ya what "What If We Were Sleeping?" is all about. We all go through a lot. Whether it's death, or some other sort of loss, or when me move far away, when we make mistakes, when we screw up. Life is full of disappointments and pain. We find ourselves asking at times if there is a reason for it all. Is there a reason for what happens, or am I just a little cotton ball floating in the wind? We ask, "Is any of this actually worth it? Any of it real? Are we just dreaming, sleeping?" This album is a collection of ideas, a collection of memories. Many of the memories have to do with loss, many of them have to do with love being lost and trust being broken. Some of the songs people will call "sad", others "happy". But they all mean something, and they all try to answer the question of meaning in the midst of pain. I hope that you are the kind of person who will look for the answer and find it. But in case you just need a simple yes or no: Yes. Is there meaning in all of this? Yes. Is there a purpose for loss and pain and all the terrible things this world sees? Yes. It is found not just in my music, but in a place you may have decided not to look. The answer is found in a Person, in what that Person has Finished. I pray that you will come to know that person. If you listen closely, you may hear about him in "What If We Were Sleeping?" Thank you for supporting me if you choose to buy this CD. If you decide not to, that's okay. Thanks for reading. Mathew James
