The Slow Poisoner is a One-Man-Surrealistic-Rock-and-Roll-Band from San Francisco. He strums a curiously-shaped guitar and croons curiously-shaped lyrics, all the while kicking incessantly at a bass drum rigged with sleigh bells, generating a weird and rootsy din. While on stage, elaborately painted signs that bear the title of each tune are displayed, providing a visual compliment to the malignant melodies. Lyrical concerns include sleeping sickness, weeping willows, woebegotten ne’er-do-wells, creeping fungi, strange passions, furtive meetings, unseen forces, whispering branches, domestic dischord, phantom visitations, the imbibing of mysterious green beverages, the plight of the singing railroad brakeman and strange America. Andrew Goldfarb once led a band called The Slow Poisoners, who released three albums over ten years' time. Although originally a quintet, the other musicians gradually disappeared, and as the last man standing, The Slow Poisoner grew an additonal limb and now provides a full plate of entertainment on his lonesome... Andrew is also the author of the long-running underground comic strip "Ogner Stump."
