简介

Like a thousand bouncy balls and a swarm of bees stuck inside the Roland factory, Laptop Destroyer brings the noise! Hailing from the far north of Australia, ZZAAPP Records is fledgling bass music label with three simple rules: Tracks should sound crazy, have an excess of bass and must rock the dancefloor. Australian producer Kris Keogh, aka LAPTOP DESTROYER steps up to the challenge, delivering the labels debut release, a 4-track instrumental EP of bass, blips and zaps with a clear, hip hop heritage. The EP's opening track, Commercial Sellout Rubbish, a collaboration between Keogh and Melbourne songstress and instrumentalist Pikelet, is actually anything but. Pikelet supplies a gentle, padded synth motif, which is soon devoured whole by a mammoth, buzzing bassline and some heavily bumping drums. The rest of the EP doesnt let up for a minute, with three more bass-heavy slow jams, including the neck-snapping Beep That Beep and the bouncing Now Yo, keeping the party rocking. This is the debut release by LAPTOP DESTROYER, though in many ways this release sees Kris Keogh coming full circle and returning to his roots. Starting out in the late 90s producing abrasive fractured techno as Blastcorp, his quest to make the most beautiful noise (as he calls it) led him further and further from the dancefloor over the next decade. After relocating to Japan and studying classical harp for a year, he returned to Australia and released Processed Harp Works, Vol. 1 under his own name on New Weird Australia in 2011. Described as Wild. Strange. Beautiful (Flashlight Tag), the album showcased Keoghs production talents as much as his playing, mutating harp into glitched, ambient soundscapes using self-built Reaktor patches. Wind forward a few more years and these patching and audio processing skills have finally made it back to the dancefloor with LAPTOP DESTROYER, where they are put to good use indeed. Like a Star Wars battle on an underwater trampoline, Laptop Destroyer brings the noise on the first ZZAAPP Records release.
