Originally released in December 2009 as an appetizer for his upcoming sophomore album, entitled "Affected: The Story of John Doe," "The Cold Case Files" is a compilation of material written and recorded by the singer-songwriter after the 2006 release of his debut album, Somebody To Love. “These are songs that were recorded for an album that never happened, but I still wanted to share them with everyone,” Brockington explains. The project represents Darien's struggle with balancing his own artistic expectations with the commercial expectations of others. It becomes quite clear after listening, however, that Darien has found clarity in that struggle and is as determined as ever to create his own legacy in music.

With production from WrighTrax (Big Sean, Mike Posner), Fatin "10" Horton (The Boondocks cartoon series), Khrysis (Little Brother, Masta Ace) and others, The Cold Case Files features an array of cool, smooth and sexy songs to satisfy any true R&B fan.
