Wilder Adkins is from the southern state of Georgia. He began writing songs on the guitar while in High School and picked up the Appalachian Dulcimer while in college in Birmingham, Alabama. He is one of the founding members of “Salmagundi”, a pirate themed band which only lasted one show. Wilder is known for writing the controversial ballad, “Sweet Potato Henderson”, which he is not legally allowed to release because his brother claims to have been the creator of Sweet Potato Henderson the character. Wilder's younger brother, Austin, was the lead guitarist for the band Captain Kendrick's Memorial Hot Dog Stand And Wildlife Preserve.
