Bassett is a Los Angeles based rock project founded by recording artist Josh Bassett who is the main singer, guitarist, and songwriter in the group. Musically, the Bassett sound is organic and vibrant, meshing the power and edge of rock with moods, colors, and textures that extend beyond the typical rock realm. The group explores the power of a full band as well as softer acoustic based arrangements all within one record, sometimes one song. The debut release “Vanishing” features drummer Mark Poiesz (Ghost Of Gloria) and bassist Corey McCormick (Chris Cornell, Lukas Nelson) on most of the full band tracks, with Josh performing drums and bass on the other tracks: “Corey and Mark really killed it, not just technically as players but there was a chemistry when working with both of them that you usually don’t get in a session type situation. It felt intuitive, like we were on the same page immediately, without having to talk about much. Everything came together fast and organically.” Guitars were performed by Josh and songwriting partner/guitarist Zach Zumsteg: "Zach and I have a great chemistry and he comes up with stuff I would never think of. He pushes me a lot and widens the possibilities.” All vocals were performed by Josh: "The mood of the music usually suggests the character approach I'll take vocally. We usually dig for a good melody first and I put lyrics to that based on the feeling of the music." Vanishing was recorded in various studios including Kingsize Soundlabs, High Voltage Music Studio, and a number of small home studios. Production and mixing on “Vanishing” were handled in LA and across the globe via internet in collaboration with producer/mix engineer Francois Descamps of Monaco based High Voltage Music Studio: “I had a clear picture of the sound the songs needed to have, the clarity of all the little voicings, and the overall vibe. Francois was paramount in getting the stuff to sound good in a mix. I knew what I wanted, but he brought in the skills and vision needed to really pull it off."
