简介
Syvia was founded in 2010 by the Norwegian-American Ruth Mirsky after touring as a backup singer with The Drums. Syvia's current setup focuses on bringing the electronic elements out of the studio and into a live band setup, and includes Frank Banisi (guitar), Sheldon Chow (bass/synth) and Richard Moyle Jr. (drums), who joined the band in 2012. Syvia's sound embraces the contrast of gritty bass lines and punchy rock drums with delayed guitar riffs alongside pretty shimmering synth sections that carry the weight of the bluesy female vocals. "Two Homes" is the first single off of Syvia's upcoming album and was featured in Brooklyn Brewery's video recap of their 2013 Brooklyn, Sweden Music Festival. "Two Homes" is a song about the complication of a heart suspended between two different places. Sometimes that state of suspension between two loves is exactly where one wants to be. --- Syvia's song "Hideout" was featured on an episode of The Vampire Diaries and "Snow Falling Sleeping" aired on the premiere of ABC's 666 Park Avenue. Syvia has played CMJ, Northside, and MEANY festivals and performs regularly around NYC, and opened for FM Belfast, Millionyoung, Drop the Lime, and Gemini Club, among many others. Syvia was featured as an up and coming new band on Pulp Lab's 2011 InnerTube artist CD, and selected as a top band of the week by The Deli Magazine NYC.
