Her bright attitude and commanding voice deliver an unmatched message to all who hear. She is an artist who embraces the meaning of being ever-evolving and wants to share that passion. With an infusion of Arastella's naturally poignant voice, heartrending lyrics, intricate beats and real instrumentation, her music is nothing short of hypnotic. She has found musical inspiration in artists such as Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Mary J. Blige, David Bowie, OutKast, Jeff Buckley and Patsy Cline, to name a few. While her music has strong elements of hip-hop, R&B and jazz, she has spent many years training classically, both on her own and in music institutions. Having lived in several U.S. cities, Arastella spent most of her years growing up in California and Texas. Although she was reluctant to move to Texas in her youth, she would later discover it was in her best interest musically to be there. “It may be trite to say this…I know I wasn't born in Texas but I came as fast as I could! I'm thrilled my family ended up here. Houston, Texas is where my heart is and that's that.” As a teenager, Arastella devoted hours to practicing classical voice, in addition to various styles she was already familiar with. Her internal drive to develop this style would eventually reveal her passion for other paths of music. “I had to learn opera because it was so alien to me. Beautiful, but alien and because it was so different, I found it more attractive. After school, I often worked alone in practice rooms …just the janitors and myself left in those halls. I've always been driven to better my instrument and share that with everyone” Arastella devoted much time on her music training while attending schools for music, such as the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts and the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. After years of focused vocal study, Arastella's urge to be malleable arose again. Her love-affair with soul began and such a unique blending of musical genres has proven to be monumental. “I've found certain challenges in music but like anything in life, you can spin that as an opportunity to grow or choose defeat. I wanted to excel in this new venture, much like anything I still do today.” While Arastella's self-titled debut album was created in a studio, it was also composed behind an office desk, in practice rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and many other unusual (yet so usual) places to make music. There is no limiting an artist from sharing, when the passion to do so is there and with her most creative musical abilities, Arastella has become the music, sharing a song of determination to all.
