简介
Hi Phi, is the 4th CD by Ottawa Canada artist James Cohen in his unique hybrid style of Flamenco and Gypsy Jazz. Although some of the tracks are pure flamenco and some pure gypsy jazz, the inimitable style of James’s various influences can be heard on all of them. This CD is a frequent feature of CBC Radio in Canada as well as many stations across the USA and Europe. James has brought his band on 5 tours of New England as well as western Canada and is a frequent performer in his home town of Ottawa Canada where he sells out venues pretty much every show. James is also the creator of the Mundobeat Flamenco Metronome which has helped thousands of flamenco guitarists and dancers improve their skills world wide as well as Indian classical and other exotic types of rhythmic traditions and various instruments. More information on this is available online at www.vko.com as well as James’s music website at www.james-cohen.com. Jmes recently returned from a tour of New England with the prominent American Blues man, T.J. Wheeler and appears on T.J.’s new CD Nadine on several tracks of visceral blues. James’s current bio can be read below….. James Cohen, originally a rock guitarist for over twenty-five years started out playing in pop and country bands touring Quebec and Ontario venues and taverns at the age of 17. During this time he began writing for Paul Fenton and his rock projects winning the Cher Chez competition for best original music as well as having one of his songs played extensively on European radio and TV. In 1996 James began learning flamenco with a an intensity that led him to invent the VKO Mundobeat Metronome which has now become the standard tool for those wishing to learn the subtle and complex rhythms of Flamenco music world wide. James’s most recent of his 4th CD’s is a mixture of pure flamenco on some tracks including the dance footwork of Ottawa’s Juliana Pulford, to a Django like Gypsy Jazz with some original tunes which fuse all of James’s musical background. James’s 3rd CD High Side of Low Down was released on Northernblues Records out of Toronto and enjoyed radio play across Europe and North America. The James Cohen Caravan has been a featured performer at the Ottawa Blues Fest for 6 of the past 7 years and was the first Canadian band to perform at the Portsmouth Blues fest. James has also toured the new england area and is about to go again for his 5th time. James also teaches Flamenco guitar at The Ottawa Folklore Center in Ottawa Canada part time and much more information can be found at www.james-cohen.com as well as www.vko.com for the Mundobeat Metronome.
