Though undeniably a punk rock band in the classic sense, Society’s Ills new album Adversity sees the band subtly draw from a variety of influences ranging from thrash and stoner rock to psychobilly and 90’s era punk rock, but the end result is truer to their main inspiration; 80’s hardcore – leaning more towards the varied instrumentation and compositions of the Dead Kennedys and Adolescents and the energy of Minor Threat and SNFU than to their more straightforward counterparts from the same era. Combine that with sing-a-long-able choruses, and you have the unique sound the band has coined as ‘stumble punk’.
