Grupo ATABAL (or just ATABAL) plays Afro Puerto Rican music emphasizing plena, bomba and salsa. Close to 35 years performing Caribbean and Folk Festivals, concert halls and dance halls as well. Under the influence of Caymmi Rodriguez, singer, percussionist and Hector Atabal Rodriguez's son, the group has taken on a richer percussion sound - traditional bomba but modern pop sound. HÉCTOR RODRÍGUEZ better known as “Héctor Atabal”. He is one of four musicians that started Atabal over 30 years ago. Mainly a Latin percussionist Hector also plays Brazilian pandeiro, berimbao, etc. CAYMMI RODRIGUEZ is a young upcoming songwriter, percussionist and singer for Atabal. He is the son of Hector Rodríguez – Atabal’s Director and percussionist. He started out as the groups’ band boy, learned the ropes and began playing panderos de plena, bomba drums and singing backup chorus. During the past four years he began as one of the lead singers and is now the lead singer and band administrator. Atabal has performed throughout the United States and internationally in Caribbean and Folk Festivals such as Tazzfest in Oostende and Dranouter Festival (Belgium); the Festival del Libro de Guadalajara (Mexico) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Cuba Disco in Havana (Cuba) and other festivals in the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela. In 2014 Atabal joined forces with David Marrero and produced the single Me dirás que sí. Now they recorded Hasta que Amanezca- music and lyrics- by David but with Caymmi's fast paced melodic style. The song has elements of "Bomba Holandé", latin percussion ( brass), urban (in its rhyme), a dancehall flow n the opening and pop. Un nuevo junte con David Marrero en la composición . Hasta Que Amanezca trata de lo que podría pasar si alguien decide invitar a sus amistades a una fiesta a su casa y lo hace utilizando Facebook. ¿Pero lo que sucedió es real o imaginado? HQA tiene elementos latinos (el” brass”, cencerro en salsa); caribeños (barriles, guícharo); urbanos (las rimas, el “flow de dancehall” en el principio de la voz) y elementos de pop (La mezcla de la voz). David Marrero grabó y mezcló Hasta que amanezca. Ha compuesto con y para David Rodríguez Labault “Sie7e” y es un destacado percusionista. Próximamente saldrá un video grabado y dirigido por William “Pipo.Exe” que es músico, productor musical, director, fotógrafo y diseñador gráfico. Es, además, miembro de varias reconocidas agrupaciones musicales puertorriqueñas: Sie7e, Siloé, Adam Zoom y Puerto Rico Dubstep Crew. Ha dirigido videos musicales para Kany García, ganadora de un Grammy Latino, y la banda Da’Zoo, bajo el sello Sony Music.
