What's Up! Hi I'm VC of Black Merda, glad you stopped by. Let me tell you a little about this album. I had to dig deep down in the musical vaults, to come up with some of these tracks. Most were written and recorded between, the mid 1970's and 80's, and have never seen the light of radio day. If you like your rock, Psyched, funked, steamed and fried to a crisp. Well this steaming hot plate of Psychfunk, is just what you’ve been looking and craving for! Ready? Alright here we go. 1. Superstition: Is a Psych-funked up version of the Stevie Wonder classic, that romps, frumps and and grooves it's way down the dusty, psych-funk trail, leaving in it's wake, nothing but a cloud of dust! (Cast Of Musicians: I'm playing various parts on guitar, keyboard and bass; accompanied by my ole friend, with the funny name, Mr.Drum Machine 2. She's Good 2 Me: Is a Hard hitting, rocking, funking, track about a man, who's willing to put up with, anything his woman does, because, she's so damn good to him! He doesn't know what she's got...but he knows it good! (Cast Of Players: Me on bass and guitar with Mike Kilgore on drums) 3. Yall Need To Change: A funky, psych-funk admonishing, of those who do wacky things, and how they need to do something to change that about themselves. (Cast of Characters: Me playing guitar and bass with Mr. Drum Machine on drums) 4. Medicine Man. This is a funky psyched up track, about imbibing spiritual medicine, and how good it make u feel when you do it, right down to your spiritual bones! (Cast Of Players: Me and my Black Merda band-mates: I'm on bass and lead vocal, Anthony Hawkins on guitar, Charles Hawkins on lead guitar and Tyrone Hite on drums. We all sang background vocals) 5.Shot With Sugar: This is just some sweet, sticky funky psych-funk with psyched up lyrics, expressing sincere feelings to a woman, who's been hurt in love, and the effort to get her to trust, and love again!. Foxy Lady: This is just my wildly, creative and out of the ordinary take on Jimi's classic. Purist might not like it, but I think it's good psyched up funk fun! (Cast Of Characters: Me playing guitar, bass and whatever, with Mr. Drum Machine on drums). 7. Run: This a very energetic track, speaking metaphorically, about the joys of life through running. (Cast Of Players: Me and the rest of Black Merda: Anthony and Charles Hawkins on guitars, Tyrone Hite on drums and me on bass. I'm singing lead and we all sang background vocals). 8. The Original Man: This is one of my favorite songs or tracks that I've composed or written. It was recorded in the mid 1970's. It's a grooving, moving, metaphorical, psych-funk powerhouse, riffing on how some of the negative racial vibes in the air, were affecting me during that time.( Cast Of Characters: I'm on lead vocals, guitar and bass with Mike Kilgore on drums). Dig it! 9. We've Got The Power: Another "groovy" psych-funk anthem that's innovative, creative and different, about how if we all work together, we can make this world better !(Cast Of Musicians: Black Merda: me on bass and lead vocal. Running Away: Hard, rugged, sizzling psych-funk about how running away from your problems, doesn't always pay you, what you want it to pay, or think it will pay. (Cast Performers: I'm playing distortion guitar, bass and sing lead vocals, accompanied by Charles Hawkins on lead guitar and Mike Kilgore on drums) 11. The New Age: Dig this Hendrix inspired, smoking track, about how things are changing fast and a new spiritual age, is fast approaching, and rolling over the horizon up on us like a Mack truck!
