简介
"Between the fast movements of his Rifts and the smoothness of his tone; He displays a joyous and vibrant feeling through each lyric in his Songs"... Vincent Powells unique blend of gospel and jazz with a contemporary flavor helps him to minister to the whole body of Christ without Crossing Over. Through the diligence of his musical techniques he strives in performance and spiritual growth. The Singer/Songwriter/Actor started singing in Austin, TX at a young age and received musical guidance from his mother & older brother. From singing Church Hymns to the Battle hymn of the Republic he decided to expand his musical upbringing by joining his church choir (Mt. Sinai B.C., A.W. Anthony Mays, pastor). This choir is under the leadership of JDI Recording Artist Chester D.T. Baldwin. Vincent couldnt let his God given talent go to waste so he went to work. He participated in the NAACP Act-SO competition (1st place in Austin, TX, and finalist at the National Level Two Years). Vincent also is a dedicated member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (7 Years) and has performed State wide and on the Main Stage at Nationals. He has also shared his Ministry by back up singing for such artists as Chester D.T. Baldwin (JDI), Micah Stampley (EMI/), George Powell, Kathy Burrell, Dorothy Norwood, Joey Oscar (Uppa level/sony/universal)Letoya Luckett (Capital), Krishnar(MTV/JIVE), Peter Hager, and many more. Vincent is a Full-time Student at Texas Southern University where he participates in the Gospel Choir (Living Testimony) and in the scholarship program in the Department of Fine Arts. Vincent's Major is Music Education (Opera) with a Minor in Business Administration. Vincent's style of music varies from singing with the Platinum Group of the up & coming TSU Jazz Ensemble (Prof. Howard Harris/Bert Cross), and the Opera Workshop Program (Bernadine Oliphint). Vincent has put on many concerts throughout the metropolitan areas of Austin, TX / Houston, TX (Praise Party Pt. 1-4/ Praise Party V 08, Summer Fest 2002, and Introduction of Vincent Powell), American Idol in New Orleans (Austin) season 4/5 and an Extra Judge Alex & Judge Christina Show on FOX (UPN20). Vincent was featured in various plays such as, Do You Believe in Love (State Theatre), Broadway Showstoppers Part 1 & 2 (L.B.J High School), Get Ready (Ensemble), The WIZ (TSU) and many more. Vincent is supported and advised by several members of the Gospel Announcers Guild such as Avis Thomas (KAZI 88.7 Austin, TX), Rozann Nichols (KAZI), Bill The Mailman Martin (Papa), Victor McCray, Larry Davies, and Corliss Rabb. The dynamic singers style is often compared to that of Kim Burrell, Smokie Norful, Darryl Coley, LaRon Gaddie, and J. Moss. Vincent's ultimate goal is to minister throughout the world and to bring people to Christ. Only what you do for Christ will last. When asked his Mission Statement Vincent says, I try to do everything I can to affiliate myself within the community.(Vincent Quotes) Our community has been shaken to its core, and if I can shake it back through uplifting my voice and speaking power through musical praise to the people, I must do so. My purpose is to spread the good news, introduce Christ to the unsaved souls of the world, and to live everyday productively, making it imperative to relay the spiritual message to my peers and striving for perfection in God. As the bible says, Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Vincent uses this quote to captivate his audience knowing that all things are possible through Christ. Understand that this is only the beginning for Vincent Powell. Eyes have not seen, nor have ears heard what God has in store for him.The Best is yet to come.
