简介

The intrinsic, transcendent, lulling sounds of the hip hop-reggae infusion music group, CHAPTER 11, stem from the “easy living” attitude that begets its members—all residents of sunny Long Beach, California. Deftly crafted music arrangements incorporating reggae rhymes, hip hop lyrics and dancehall style, create a reggae culture unique onto itself and followed by thousands of loyal fans. Formed in 1998, CHAPTER 11 has since been invited to play with reggae legends: Gregory Issacs, Luciano, Beres Hammond, Pato Banton, Kymani Marley, Eek A Mouse, Half Pint, Sugar Minott, Burning Spear, Frankie Paul, & Tippa Irie. Their cross over appeal has also led to performances with rap greats: Rakim, Tribe Called Quest, The Wu Tang Clan, Xzibit, Jurassic 5 and popular alternative rock bands: Alien Ant Farm, Fishbone, Ugly Duckling, and Dial 7. In the first quarter of 2006, CHAPTER 11 re-released their self distributed full length CD Live & Direct on Dime City Records with help from indie music distributor Independent Distribution Collective (IDC). Through retailers associated with the collective, Live & Direct will be available at music shops up and down the entire west coast from Washington state to Baja California, and in Colorado, New York and Florida. Their international release was made available to Japanese fans via Surfrock International Inc., an affiliate of Japan’s long established entertainment distributor, Pony Canyon, in the same quarter. The re-released Live & Direct CD consists of 15 hard-hitting tracks and features such artists as Tim Wu of Sublime and the Long Beach Dub All Stars on Sax/Flute (7 songs) and Aaron Owens of Hepcat on Guitar (4 songs). Selections from CHAPTER 11’s music library also appear on the REGGAE NATION 2004 DVD with other such notable artists as Sean Paul, Mr. Vegas, Eek-A-Mouse, & Tippa Irie. Extreme sports enthusiasts have also been privilege to their super cool sounds on the FUEL TV network. In the summer of 2004, “Latin Joint” was a regularly request song title of the major Los Angeles alternative rock station 103.1 FM (Indie FM). CHAPTER 11 is: MCs—Tony Ortiz (aka Stoney), Scotty Groveunder (aka Daddy Scotty), Jeff Link (aka Kepwon); Dave Foral (aka Javier Contender), Bass Guitar; Lucas Earley, Keyboards; Tommy Haynes, Percussion; Josh Barlow, Drums. With regular guest performances by Tim Wu, Saxaphone and Ed Kaufman (aka Big Nes), MC.
