Biblical songs from the immortal pen of Antonin Dvorak and romantic art songs by Erwin Junger, Yoram Chaiter Born in Ukraine (former Soviet Union). Began his musical education by studying the piano. Immigrated to Israel in 1973. Studied voice with Ms Tamar Raz and also with Ms. Leane Dubin. Has been working and recording now for many years with coach and pianist Ina Weizmann and pianist Ira Zelikson. Participated in the Metropolitan Workshop with the Israeli Opera where he performed the role of Cardinal de Brogni in the opera La Juive by Halevy. Performs regularly with the Technion Symphony Orchestra and Choir as a soloist, among the roles he performed are Colline in La Boheme by Puccini, excerpts from Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky and Escamillo in Carmen. Appeared in Macbeth by Bloch during the Bloch Festival held at the Technion. In 2005 performed the role of Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Haifa symphony orchestra conducted by Noam Sheriff and Tamir Chasson. Recently performed Verdi’s Requiem and Mozart's Requiem on the same night with the Tel Aviv philharmonic choir and a guest orchestra conducted by Leonti Wolf at the Colosseum of Beith Guvrin. Sang the role of Dr. Dulcamara in L'Elisir D'Amore with Israeli chamber orchestra. Concert repertoire also includes Stabat Mater by Rossini, Creation by Haydn, Messa di Gloria by Puccini, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony ,Verdi’s Requiem , Vesperae solennes de confessore ,Great Mass and Requiem by Mozart and Requiem by Faure. Repertoire also includes songs by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Brahms, Schubert, Wolf, Erwin Junger ,Dvorak and others. Premiered David’s song cycle by Israeli composer Erwin Junger in 1993. Made two recordings for the Israeli Radio (Kol Hamusica) in 1991 and 1996. In 2004 recorded two song cycles by Erwin Junger , and Dvořák's Biblical songs in English. The recording was released during the fall of 2008 by Eroica classical recordings. In 2005 made a recording of songs by Erwin Junger on verses of Hungarian poets. These recordings were broadcasted by the Israeli radio during 2006-7. Appeared in a recital at Kfar Bloom during the festival of Kol Hamusica in 2007. Recently recorded five Rachmaninov songs and a selection of Brahms songs. This CD has since been released by Eroica Classical Recordings, including 2 songs by Franz Schubert. A CD of Tosti and Respighi songs is planned in 2009. His extra- musical activities include a degree of Doctor of Medicine and practice as physician, along with being actively engaged in medical research of cancer. His work on that field was published in the international literature and presented at international conferences. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ina Weizmann, pianist Graduated in 1975 from Gnesins' Institute of Music in Moscow. Worked as piano teacher and accompanist and participated in chamber music ensembles. Immigrated to Israel in 1991. Has been working and recording now for many years with bass Yoram Chaiter. In 1996 made a recording with Yoram Chaiter for the Israeli Kol Hamusica radio. Continues to work as piano teacher, singers coach and accompanist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Erwin Junger, Composer Was born in 1931 in Timishoara, Romania. Studied composition and piano at the music academy Gheorge Dima and musicology at the Hungarian institute of art in Cluj. In 1969 undertook a master class at the international music institute of contemporary music in Darmstadt, Germany. From 1950 till 1975 held academic appointments at Gheorge Dima academy as assistant professor and titular professor. In 1975 became doctor of musicology. Since 1977 has been professor at the Israeli music academy in Tel Aviv. His works include three symphonies, violin concerto, cello concerto, three sonatas and three song cycles, two of them in Hebrew are performed on the present disc. Wrote and published books on harmony and counterpoint in the baroque era, two books of harmony exercises and a monograph about Béla Bartók.
