Kevin Brunkhorst has been playing the guitar since he was ten years old. He currently teaches music at a university in Nova Scotia. Ryan Davidson, besides being one his former students, is a first-call session guitarist in the country music scene in Alberta. Stockton Helbing and Brian Mulholland were the drummer/musical director and bassist, respectively, for the Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau band. All four, at various times, were students in the University of North Texas Jazz Studies Program.

The CD came about as the result of a phone call from Ryan to Kevin: 'When are we going to make a CD?'. There were two days of rehearsals and one day of recording. The sessions were recorded in August of 2008 in Texas. Mixing and mastering was done a year later in Nova Scotia.

The players have all heard and absorbed a wide variety of music, and the goal was to make something that they would like to listen to - this is not self-indulgent music.

The tunes are all originals. There are no overdubs - every track is a live recording, and nearly all are first takes.
