You’ll get a picture of the characters and their adventures as well as the outcomes of their actions and everything in between. “Lie With Me” couples resounding keys and violin with Roan Yellowthorn's heavenly delivery, painting a vivid portrait of a crumbling relationship through a delicate twang. “It was about a situation somebody I knew was dealing with,” she says. “I just started writing, and the song happened in half-an-hour. I realized later that it pays homage to a Shakespearian sonnet I memorized in college with the same double entendre.” “Lyrics are extremely important to me,” she explains. “I approach songwriting as if I’m composing a poem. There are so many influences in my mind. Music is a way for me to examine multiple areas of life and weave them into a cohesive piece.” Ultimately, this is just the first chapter of Roan’s story. “When people hear this music, I’d love for them to feel at once moved and connected to the world,” she leaves off. “That’s how you feel when you read a favorite poet or author. That’s what I’m aiming for.”
