简介
The latest release from Angry Panda is entitled ‘Cut Loose’, described by the band as a “dangerous collision of shrieking guitars, thunderous bass and labyrinthine percussion” - ‘Cut Loose’ is a lyrical statement in primal rock, veering from serene prog-rock soundscapes into furious punk-fuelled riffage. Angry Panda’s efforts have concentrated on further developing the band’s sound into a powerful mix of spiky livewire guitars, dominating bass and labyrinthine percussion. Combined with the piercing mantra of Lee Everson’s vocals, ranging from melodic sweeps to caustic screams – Angry Panda’s music is a hysterical lunge for the ears of the listener. This EP encapsulates the band’s lyrical themes of dark emotional truths, mixed with dissident thought and anti-establishment polemics. Guitarist Steve Nutt blends a sweeping array of picking styles with a creative chain of analogue FX, painting Angry Panda's sound with diverse, engaging soundscapes. Expect looming harmonics mixed with furious staccato blasts of distortion. Drummer Jack Everson takes his influences from the very best in metal and progressive bands, and his style of combining intense, multi-layered fills with driving time-signature changes gives the overall sound a striking immediacy - with a signature aggressive pace. Forming a tight rhythm section in combination with the huge, downtuned basslines of Lee Everson, Angry Panda’s amped-up low-end gives them maximum impact on the listener. Mixed with sections of screaming vocal psychosis and pleading, frantic melodies – ‘Cut Loose’ captures a sound which evokes both the extremes of the rock template, and the extremes of the human condition. ‘Cut Loose’ is the latest release from a band whose creative output is a message of ideological resistance against the status quo, and this latest EP is a milestone in Angry Panda’s unflinching desire to express an acoustic originality through their music. With sharp production values courtesy of Matt Sampson at Bink Bonk Studios in Bristol, Angry Panda are sharpened and ready to firmly imprint themselves upon the consciousness of the underground UK rock scene.
