简介

Biography Since 1985, YSG-Timothy has blessed ciphers, stages, vinyl, cassettes, and compact discs with his God-given talent of lyricism in the form of rap music. Born Tremone Torrell Williams on June 17th, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois, YSG-Timothy was introduced to music at a young age by his uncle "TJ Hancock", a former DJ for 'The Taste' nightclub-a Chicago nightlife landmark. YSG recalls his uncle preparing the evenings' song lists; playing the latest in both popular and underground music, while educating the future emcee on song structure, content, and the ability to effectively relate to the listener. In 1985, YSG-Timothy composed his first rhyme and entered his first battle. Reciting lines from Doug E. Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew's 'The Show', a classmate at the time made mentioned that YSG-Timothy was using another rapper's lyrics and accused him of 'biting' his lines. As a result, the upstart rapper learned a valuable lesson in the art of emceeing: know, understand, and appreciate all facets of the craft while striving to be creative. In high school, YSG gained popularity, not only as a prep basketball standout, but as an emcee that his peers supported and respected. Timothy would continue to fan the flames of his passion toward the practice of lyricism as he developed from a boy to a man, from a son to a father, and from a novice to a veteran as an emcee. In 1997, nearly a year after the birth of his daughter, YSG found the meaning of life, in the love given to him by Christ Jesus. Two years later, in honor of his calling and in recognition of his relationship to his Father, Timothy would take on the name YSG, which is an acronym for the Young Son of God. During this time YSG-Timothy would become a member of the Wax Musim Collective; a hip hop crew comprised of two emcees, two dj's, and one spoken word poet. Together, they performed at numerous events throughout Northern Indiana and the greater Chicagoland area, broadening their fan base and more importantly, sharing the Good news of the reconciliation of man's relationship with his Father. Due to family commitments and time constraints, in 2003, the group dissolved and YSG-Timothy became a solo artist, ministering to and performing before audiences world-wide. Today, YSG-Timothy resides in South Bend, Indiana where he continues to enhance his skills as an emcee, while working with inner-city youth at the River of Life Church of Michiana.
