(Disc 2) Physical album release scheduled for March 2013 through Projuice Records. Mardi G is the latest incarnation of illusive former Mardi Picasso main man Martin Gambie. In the thirteen years that have elapsed since the limited edition release of the last Mardi Picasso album "Retro Escargot", Mr.G. has been occasionally intermittently busy. Initially recording an album with the notorious Peyton Brothers, Phil & Greg, as Rotunda, entitled "Rotunda", he then co-wrote and commenced recording an album with former Mardi Picasso cellist / Sinope singer Alex Bak. For reasons possibly known to somebody, the project wasn't completed and another legendary lost album was not quite born. Next in the bout of intermittent activity from the G Man was the formation of the Orange Brothers, with double bassist, Jeff Harrold (of Blue Rinse Ensemble & various jazzbo outfits fame) and mandolinist, Dave Johnson (of The Fling & various folklike outfits fame), who performed a selection of tunes that Marty liked. (Byrds, Beck, Mike Nesmith, Johnny Cash, Ray Davies, Syd Barrett etc... & a few old Hillbilly Tunes) to the rabid diners at the Tropicana Cafe in Fremantle, weekly for many weeks. Following Mardi's move from the bohemian enclave of Freo to the wooded hills of Jarrahdale & the addition of former Cranky Mothers vocalist Lisa Walmsley to the brotherly brew, the Jarrahdale Tavern became the second of the two venues to host The O.B.'s brand of psychedelic country folk. After a while, as is the way with all things that come, The Orange Brothers went and Monsieur Gambie, having not entirely neglected his songwriting, and between fits of highly lucrative busking, and a brief tenure as bassist in the Rasta Coconut Allstars, commenced work on what was to become "But Wait... There's More" with Johnny G (A.K.A. John Gambie) firmly at the controls. In a highly sporadic fashion, over a period of two and a half years, the dynamic duo beavered away every now and then, performing all musical chores themselves (bar a couple of cameos), until eventually they emerged with the album you are possibly not holding in your hands right now. Eight tracks of the very best of Martin Gambie (apart from the one written by Robyn Hitchcock) "But Wait... There's More" And indeed there is. Having rather prolifically penned a small batch of new tunes, and with Johnny G unavailable due to his imminent immigration to the US of A (to co-habit with his American wife, oddly enough), M.G. enlisted the aid of his old Mardi Picasso compadre, Cavan McCann to twiddle the knobs and tickle the ivories and with another old compadre, Brad Thomas, beating the drums (in the nicest possible way) recorded the "Slight Return Of The Dodo" E.P. With mixing to be completed on the E.P. at the time of writing and cover artwork to be finalised on both discs, hopefully "But wait... There's More" & "Slight Return Of The Dodo", will emerge simultaneously in the not too distant future. Martin Gambie - July 2011.
