Tawrence Griffin a.k.a. TU, is on the rise with one of the most versatile styles you've ever heard! The style he uses combines Hip- Hop and R&B that amazes audiences and is sure to grab your ears. TU has been the opening performer for artists such as Mystikal, Scarface, Eightball & M.J.G., U.G.K., and other well known names in the industry. With fans enjoying his featured songs on the recently released compilation, “Spliftight '99 and Beyond” in Japan, TU can assure you that he isn't a new kid on the block. The TU TU Train is coming! Name: Tawrence Griffin Birthday: July 12 Sex: Male Height: 6’3” Stage Name: TU a.k.a. The TU TU Train TU was born in Dallas, TX and raised by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Griffin. He grew up without the best of things, but had enough. At the tender age of eight, he grew to love music; it just seemed to be in his heart. Of all the different types of music, Hip Hop and R&B became his favorite. (I recall being in my room with my karaoke, hearing my mother say, “Boy turn that mess down! I have to go to work in the morning!” I turned it down, but I never turned it off). He had to keep writing, he had to keep going, he had dreams of being a star! By the time he reached the ninth grade, TU was free-styling about everything in front of him. TU wasn’t just messing around with his god given talent, he was representing; giving friends something to talk about after school. Tawrence really didn’t know much about the music business and thought that overnight he would become successful. He had never seen a studio, and didn’t care about being rich or getting paid, he just wanted to be heard. The first show he had was at the Venue Showroom, where he opened up for a group known as Nemesis. He continued to pump up the crowd at various places performing opening acts for groups like U.G.K., Eightball & M.J.G., Mystikal, Scarface and many other well-known artists. Things were going good, and he continued to work in Dallas. During this time he met a good friend named Daryl Daniels, (A.K.A. Double D). His Spliftight music production brought flava’ out of TU that took him to a whole new level. By this time, TU had learned much about the industry. Double D decided to drop a compilation called “Spliftight '99 & Beyond” and shortly after they dropped another compilation called "The Committee". Both of these compilations are getting great reviews in Japan and fans are on the edge of their seats, waiting for the release of his upcoming solo album, “2 Sides 2 Every Story”.
