简介
Mary wrote her first song at age nine, but started writing more seriously at age 14. Since then, she has composed scores of songs in a variety of styles, from R&B to pop, rock to blues, secular to religious, and even the occasional classical composition. She doesn’t wish to tie herself down to any one genre, but always seeks to write music that speaks to the heart of the human experience in a way that is accessible, unique, and honest. Over the five years Mary was writing the songs on this album, she saw huge changes both in her personal life and in the world at large. These changes prompted in her an overwhelming desire to speak the truth in ways she had never been able to before. The album reflects this -- the title track is about not thinking the way others want you to think, not living the way others want you to live, and learning to be happy with yourself in spite of that. The album's other tracks touch on the fear of losing something important because of choosing truth and honesty over what seems convenient or easy. This, combined with the albums genre-bending and emotional range, makes Lovely Life a sonic delight for every listener.
