Warping the waveforms with their twisted, soulful and sophisticated sounds from the underground. Get up, get down, get lost, get found. As Jilted Hoodz sounds rise to the digital surface. The Jilted Hoodz style is hard to put in a box, but could be described as something a bit like The Philharmonic orchestra meets with The Chronic. MISSION STATEMENT: Jilted Hoodz taps into the universal frequency with their sound, which connects with and communicates to listeners through the universal language of music. For which there are no words. Yet music moves, speaks to and reaches us all. Defying limitations of genre classifications, Jilted Hoodz flip the script producing eclectic sounds across a diverse spectrum of genres within the platform of electronic music. It invokes a sense of global interconnection which transcends boundaries, and bridges the divides. THE JILTED HOODZ SOUND: The Jilted Hoodz signature feel good darkness and glitched-out, fat and funky sounds, are characterised by bottom heavy combinations of obesely broken beats, and beasty bass articulations. These elements are often contrasted by hauntingly beautiful melodics, and experimental instrumental textures. Integrating sounds from the old school, the new school and the true school with electro tinged, glitch rich dissonance, which distorts the norms, and storms the waveforms. Witness the bringing together and interplay of diametrically opposite stylistic elements. These characteristics are underpinned by stylistic influences and genres including:- Glitch Hop, Trip Hop, Dubstep, Breakbeat, IDM, Future / Bass Music, Progressive House, Contemporary Sound-scapes and Hip Hop to name a few. Their style also has been compared to artists such as: Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin and Modeselektor. ABOUT JILTED HOODZ: Jilted Hoodz is comprised of the unlikely alliance of Rowena Paton (Producer, Composer/ Classical Pianist, MC) and Anthony Baxter (Producer, DJ, Turntablist), who were both originally from Canberra in Australia, but are currently situated on the Central Coast. They have created, produced and performed music extensively, both individually, with others, and together as the open collaborative force that is Jilted Hoodz. They have shared line ups with headlining acts such as Cypress Hill, Cut La Roc, Koolism and the Thievery Corporation. They have have also performed many live electronic sets and have managed and put on events ranging from: sourcing funding and facilitating large scale events for Youth Arts initiatives, community based projects and Amnesty International, to playing at large outdoor sound festivals, to classical / contemporary based performances for art exhibitions in the High Court of Australia. Both members of this duos musical origins are deeply rooted in the beats of Hip Hop. This foundation was further transformed by experimentation with bottom heavy aesthetics of Bass Music, and tweaked by futuristic effects, and electro influences. Although they are self taught, since trying their hands at electronic production methods they havent looked back. BASS OF ORIGIN EP: 1) Universal Frequency: Ambient Glitch Hop / Electronica 100BPM Get lost, get found listening to Universal Frequency, as it flexes and bends around you, with rippling melodics and mystical digitals, contrasted by complex textural layers, and grounded with a deep pulsing sub-bass dissonance and stripped back Glitch Hop beat. 2) Tainted Grace: Glitch Hop / Electronica 176BPM Multidimensional beats plucked from the cosmos, falling like raindrops on Bass crops. Melting the typical genres and conceptual structures, which we use to identify music. This track features complex futuristic drum fills, robotic vocoder effects and morphing synth oscillators on the nasty bass. 3) Shift Creatrix: Ambient Glitch Hop/ Electronica 110BPM A floaty, melodic, spacious and chilled out liquid breakbeat enfolds you with an uplifting, dreamy ambience punctuated by a driving electro-funk bassline. As the mind/ soul fabric Jilted Hoodz is made of manifests its earthly dimensions - bear witness. CURRENT PROJECTS: Since being discovered and signed by Inception Records through Soundcloud earlier this year, Jilted Hoodz have been rapidly gathering momentum, producing new tracks, developing their public profile and playing radio feature shows. They are also involved in multiple international collaborations with other artists, producers and talented MCs. They have enjoyed radio airplay on various stations, including Deep Threes (international and online broadcasting) and FBI and 2XX (Australia). They are currently preparing a stomping electronic set for live gigs booked in near future. Their next EP, Bass Lickers, scheduled for release by Inception Records on November 29th, 2013, is destined to bring some exciting and edgy new sounds from Jilted Hoodz. It will be a vastly diverse five track EP, showcasing their multiple styles across different genres. This EP will also come with a free download of template for an original street art stencil. Unlike the Bass of Origin EP, which is predominantly on the lighter, more ambient end of the Jilted Hoodz spectrum, their next release will be all about fatness, and will be broken beat & bass based.
