Hailing from the western suburbs of Sydney, singer/songwriter Tom River has been quietly riding on the life train, honing his craft as an artist of immensely diverse proportions. Starting out as a solo act playing to turned backs in old pubs, River has been turning those backs around to the front of house, showing the Sydney scene that doing this music thing is what he loves more than anything in this world, and that his songs are a reflection of a life of love, turmoil, miracles and transcendental voyages. In April of 2013, Tom River formed the band 'Tom RIver & The Boatmen' to realise the full sonic potential of the music. Since the band formed, 'First Voyage' was an idea that ultimately became a reality, exploring the ideas of what it means to be human, the nature of people's lust for journey and change, familiar faces and dreams, and the turbulence of heartbreak and loss.
