This was recorded in 1963 and came out on the Mercury label. Buddie Emmons' country chops are without peer, everybody knows that. Just have to listen to Ray Price's "Night Life". This album puts Buddie in the company of some of the best jazz musicians playing at that time ( Jerome Richardson-saxophone, Bobby Scott-piano, Art Davis-bass, Charli Persip-drums). There's some unbelievable playing on this! From the liner notes "Traditionally associated with Hawaiian and hillbilly bands, it is quite understandable that a steel guitar jazz album may seem a bit incogruous to the hip aficianado. But Steel Guitar Jazz should convince the most demanding purist that in the right hands, the steel guitar is a formidable jazz instrument."
