简介

BIO In the Fall of 2002, three engaged guys (Jesse Norell - guitar/vocals, Kristof Marden - bass and Kyle Bonderson - drums) formed a band called Reticence. Shortly after their first show a year later, three married guys talked of recording an album together. From March 2004 to November 2005, Reticence recorded ReMedial, their debut album, at Velvet Brick Studios in River Falls, WI. Balancing music, family and full-time employment has always been a focus for the band. Members of Reticence have played in countless other bands (as many as six at a time), most notably Copy and Metaphor. Reticence has played with bands such as the Love-cars, Cloud Cult, and Oh My God at many Twin Cities venues including the Uptown Bar, Fine Line, and the Kitty Cat Klub (a complete listing is available at www.reticencemusic.com). Reticence has received airplay on Minnesota's KFAI and 89.3 The Current. DESCRIPTION Reticence is defined as being "inclined to keep one's personal affairs to oneself." In the band Reticence music is used as an outlet to express the otherwise inexpressible. Song lyrics often discuss problems in need of remedy-both personally and within American culture. The band's debut album, Remedial, has an emphasis on how mass media has transformed culture. "Toggle Rock" has been a term used to describe the Reticence sound. The music switches from intense to mellow and back again using an array of guitar and bass effects pedals that aid the songwriting-not get in the way. The emphasis is always on vocal melodies that stick, supported by tightly woven guitar and bass melodies and intricate drumming. PUBLISHED PRESS QUOTES “…ReMedial has a smooth, easy feel with flashes of crunchy guitar breaks and syncopated rhythms, a sound that reflects their urge to create something that reaches out to those who don’t necessarily have an expressive platform.” - Jennifer Whigham, The Pulse, Dec. 7, 2005 “…ReMedial [is] a crunchy, melodic alt-rock disc that welds delicate vocals with searing guitars — sort of like Muse but without all those operatic flourishes. - Ross Raihala, Pioneer Press, Dec. 8, 2005 “Pretty powerful stuff...” - Chris Riemenschneider, Star Tribune Dec. 9, 2005 “…the track that will perk up most twentysomethings' ears is "Up Up Down Down," a serene love song encrypted in a video game trick. …If that ain't the most sincere sign of young love, I don't know what is.” - Lindsey Thomas, City Pages, Dec. 9, 2005 Reticence 21+ CD Release Party: A-List Recommended Event - City Pages, Dec. 9, 2005 “…Reticence knows when to rock and knows when to let the melody and lyrics do the work. ReMedial is a smart album from a group who knows a thing or two about songwriting and has plans to go places.” (Includes interview with singer Jesse Norell) - Greg Swan, PerfectPorridge.com, Jan. 10, 2006 “Toggling between pretty crunch-guitar melodies and soft emo-punk ballads, ReMedial is sequenced beautifully with a welcome aural cohesiveness” - Gentry Boekel, Rift Magazine, January 2006 INTERVIEW QUOTE “Reticence’s music is very dynamic with swelling, mellow interludes that lead into heavy rock parts. What seems to be consistent is an emphasis on melody. Their songs are often strangely both complicated and singable.” – Sam Keenan, Misplaced Music Radio Program Director
