简介

Have you ever put your hand into the pocket of an old jacket and pulled out a $100 bill; Surprise! Or, have you opened an old purse and found a long forgotten piece of jewelry that you had given up for lost; Surprise! That's kind of how it happened when my good friend, Ronnie "Mouse" Weiss (that's "Mouse" of Mouse & the Traps fame), gave me a burned CD of four long-lost, forgotten 45's (Remember 45's?) that he and his heady band, Mouse & the Traps, had cut in 1981. WHERE DID THIS COME FROM? Ronnie, this is incredible stuff! Can you find more? Well, Ronnie phoned Ken "Nardo" Murray (drummer extraordinaire & original "Trap") and Dave Stanley (Big Band Bassman and original "Trap"), and Dave went into the vault and came out with the 10 tracks you hold in your hand. The rest is history! The PAST, man, that sounds so current, so Texas, so good! There is no doubt Mouse & the Traps were the forerunners of what Texas music is today! Mouse & the Traps, Texas' original garage band, had their Hey Day in the mid-60s with such hits as "A Public Execution," "Maid of Sugar, Made of Spice," "Sometimes You Just Can't Win," and many more. This project, "The Lost Sessions," was originally going to be called "The Last Sessions," but we knew this couldn't be the last. There is a shortage of great music today. We need more of this, man! You have not heard the last of Mouse & the Traps! So, turn it up and enjoy. Dr. Terry D. Davis September 4,2008 Tyler, Texas Mouse and the Traps...Lost Sessions Written by Fred Mitchim Austinmusic .com Mouse and the TrapsMouse and the Traps.....Lost Sessions I think it was 1971 when I was told about a killer rock band with an unbelievable guitar player that was playing around east Texas. They had a great name...Mouse and the Traps... I never had the pleasure of catching them but I did see the unbelievable guitar player "Bugs Henderson" at the Armadillo World Headquarters around '74......drop everything and go see him if you ever get the chance. So this new C.D. has surfaced with a batch of studio tunes and three live cuts that we're recorded in the early eighties. You wouldn't know it though because there is nothing dated about the production or the material. Ronny Weiss wrote most of it and sang almost everything and this guy probably should have moved to L.A. or New York. If you're a world class talent its going to be rough getting noticed around Nacogdoches. His delivery and his unusual voice stand out amongst forest of voices we must all wander through. These guys were on a roll when they recorded this and you will feel it. Mouse and the Traps Lost Sessions - CD Review Dallasmusic.com Mouse and the Traps is back after finding lost recording sessions from 1981. It was a huge suprise when original leader, gutarist and vocalist of the band Ronnie "Mouse" Weiss found four long-lost songs recorded back in 1981. He called the rest of the band: guitarist and vocals Bugs Henderson, drummer Ken "Nardo" Murray, and bassist Dave Stanley who came with ten more. The tracks also include some other assorted gun slingers. The ten found tracks were put together to become the Lost Sessions, and now Mouse and the Traps are back. The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't cheesy; pardon the pun. I thought, oh great, some band has found tracks from the 80s and has decided to release them. I was prepared to hear an 80s garage band. Then, when I saw Bugs Henderson on the list, I knew it was not some cheesy 80s garage band. These tracks could have been recorded yesterday. They still fit perfectly into today's blues scene. It's tight, hard core, Texas blues. The Traps are back and they're going to fit right in, probably teach the newbies a thing or two
